For instance, the 9-iron checks in at 39 degrees.Īnd indeed, they produced a lower, more controlled launch when compared to modern game-improvement and super-game-improvement irons. For modern game-improvement irons, they are somewhat strongly-lofted. The Lazrus irons have a fairly substantial head so right off the bat, they look like they’re going to be forgiving.Īnd they are to a certain extent. They have the same footprint and the shaping is very similar as well. When we first picked up the Lazrus irons, we were instantly reminded of the Callaway Mavrik irons. #1 – Lazrus Irons – LAZRUS Premium Golf Irons So let’s take a look at some of the most notable Lazrus golf clubs and break down their performance. Lately, Lazarus golf clubs have been garnering a lot of attention mainly for their price but also because some of their clubs are spec’d just like more expensive and well-known clubs.Īfter testing and reviewing a number of their clubs in preparation for this article, we found that many of their clubs are actually designed to emulate popular Taylormade and Callaway clubs. Lazarus golf clubs, according to the company itself, are manufactured in the same facilities as some of the largest golf club companies in the world. This way, they can spare customers from paying for outlandish retail markups. Lazarus Golf is known for building a business model around the concept of providing golf clubs straight from the manufacturer to the consumer. The Lazrus Golf company was founded to cut out the retail middle men and provide clubs directly to the consumer. The Lazrus Golf story begins back in 2017.Īn industrious group of golf enthusiasts saw something wrong with the golf club market: clubs were being sold for ridiculous prices due to large retail markups. I do sometimes miss the Lazrus 56 degree, but probably mainly because the PXG SW is a 54 degree, and I had gotten used to the 56.ĭo you think your new wedges outperform the Lazarus wedges solely because they're fit for you or are they inherently better clubs? We have a similar handicap based on your profile and I couldn't imagine a wedge that is significantly better for someone of my skill level.Lazrus Golf Clubs Review – Are They Any Good? Are They A Good Brand? I think that the PXG irons outperform the Lazrus irons in every respect, as one might expect. Also, because I have short arms for my height, getting the lie angle right was important (although I suppose I could have had the lie adjusted on the Lazrus clubs, but has anyone ever had a lie adjustment on no-name, mail-order, non-conforming clubs?). Sure enough, I was fit for a graphite shaft. The main purpose of upgrading the wedges and irons was to have something with more distance, more forgiveness, and with a shaft that fit me. At some point in the future, I'll probably want a more brand-agnostic fitting if I think it would benefit me. Then, I wanted something that was more custom fit for me, and PXG fit the bill. Just starting out, you need something serviceable that won't hurt you. In both cases, I would say this: I don't think that spending more money would have resulted in better scores. Eventually, I went to a PXG store to get a super-cheap fitting (I had already by this point bought a 0211 driver) and ended up buying a new 5-wood, GW and SW, and found the exact irons I was fitted for on Facebook for half-price (they had been swung maybe once at a driving range). I used them for about a year, and overall I think they were great for what I needed at that time. The price was right for someone who was still deciding whether or not they were going to take up the game in the long-term, and especially at this time when it was almost impossible to find any sort of decent clubs for a decent price due to the Covid demand and supply chain issues. When I first started playing about two years ago, I bought a whole bunch of Lazrus clubs - irons (6-PW), the three wedges, and eventually two hybrids (3 and 5).
